Data Entry Checklist

Automation has revolutionised the data entry process for bookkeepers but at present there are still some tasks required by humans to facilitate efficient automated data entry.

  1. When taking a photo of the receipt, ensure that the picture is in focus. If possible, try to eliminate shadow. It is critical that the amount, date, supplier’s name and ABN, service or product and GST amount is clearly visible.
  2. While automation software has the ability to fetch statements, there are times where you might find yourself scanning and emailing a statement. If you are in this situation, remember to include all the pages. This is also important for invoices which show the GST amount on the second page.
  3. Please resist the urge to fold the receipt in as many segments as possible. Or if you enjoy making paper planes with your receipts, please take a photo of the image first.

By taking these steps you will allow the data automation software such as Hubdoc to work efficiently. Your monthly investment will offer you better value for money because less time is spent pestering you for the above-mentioned documents.
